As the premiere for Gotham season 5 approaches, FOX have released the first character portraits and we are lucky enough to have one of Shane as Edurado Dorrance – the man who becomes the infamous Bane!  TVLine have shared some portraits – which I will be replacing as soon as the HQ version is available.  But make sure to head over to the gallery and check it out.

Gotham‘s assorted heroes and villains appear steeled — and look quite steely — for battle in this exclusive first look at the Fox drama’s final batch of cast portraitsDavid Mazouz, Ben McKenzie, Robin Lord Taylor and Camren Bicondova are just a few of the dozen series vets featured in the (morally) gray-tinted photos, which also highlight a makeover for Cameron Monaghan’s Jeremiah Valeska.

Subtitled “Gotham: Legend of the Dark Knight” and premiering Thursday, Jan. 3 at 8/7c, the Batman prequel series’ final, 12-episode run is described as “a farewell event that will focus on Bruce Wayne’s ultimate transformation into the Caped Crusader, as Jim Gordon tries to hold together a city on the edge of chaos‎.”

The fifth and final season will also introduce new villains, including the iconic Bane (Nikita‘s Shane West), who is also featured among the cast portraitsGotham Season 5 will again on Thursday nights lead into The Orville (which will air its Season 2 premiere on Sunday, Dec. 30, leading out of an NFL doubleheader). – TVLine.com

Great news fellow Westaholics – Shane has joined the cast of ‘Gossamer Folds‘ which has already began production in Baton Rouge (and we are also so excited that Shane is finally getting the chance to film a movie in his home state after working in the business for 20+ years!)  – you can read the press release from Deadline.com below where it shares some information on the plot and also Shane’s character.

I personally am looking forward to this project so much and I am also so excited to see Shane take on new and interesting characters.

EXCLUSIVE: Yeardley Smith and Ben Cornwell’s Paperclip Ltd and Mill House Motion Pictures announced today that their forthcoming drama Gossamer Folds starring Alexandra Grey (Transparent, When We Rise) and Jackson Robert Scott (It) has begun production. The Lisa Donato-directed film written by Bridget Flanery has also added Sprague Grayden, Shane West, Ethan Suplee, and Franklin Ojeda Smith.

Yeardley Smith will also appear along with Brenda Currin (In Cold Blood, The World According to Garp) and Jen Richards (Mrs. Fletcher, Armistead Maupin’s Tales of the City). Ava Benjamin Shorr (Disclosure: Trans Lives on Screen, Baja Come Down) serves as DP.

The film is set in 1986 and tells the story of ten-year-old Tate (Scott) who is uprooted from the big city and unceremoniously moved to a small town where he is forced to spend a lonely summer bearing witness to his parents’ disintegrating marriage (West and Grayden). Tate ends up befriending his new next-door neighbors, recently retired English professor, Edward Bryant (Ojeda Smith) and his transgender daughter, Gossamer, (Grey). Despite his father’s knee-jerk transphobia and his mother’s misplaced protectiveness, Tate forms a deep friendship with fellow misfit, Gossamer that changes his life and the lives of their families.

The announcement of the project continues Hollywood’s slow and steady campaign for authentic representation and narratives of marginalized communities. In the case of Gossamer Folds, its transgender representation with Tate and LGBTQ advocate Donato behind the camera as director. Nick Adams, Director of Transgender Media & Representation at GLAAD, advised the project during pre-production. Paperclip reached out to GLAAD after reading the TRANSform Hollywood guide created by GLAAD and 5050by2020, a project of Time’s Up. These resources are designed to help content creators who are telling stories that include transgender characters.

Gossamer Folds is financed by Paperclip Ltd. Smith and Cornwell of Paperclip will produce alongside Jordan Foley and Jonathan Rosenthal of Mill House Motion Pictures and Adam Carl. The project is the third collaboration between Paperclip and Mill House. The two worked on All Square, which won the Audience Award at SXSW 2018. They also worked on the John Hyams thriller Alone which is slated for a 2019 release.

Grayden is represented by Untitled Entertainment and AKA Talent Agency. Franklin Ojeda Smith is represented by Headline Talent Agency and Bohemia Group.

Alexandra Grey is repped by GVA Talent Agency and Zero Gravity Management. Jackson Robert Scott is repped by Coast to Coast Talent Group and Artistic Endeavors. Shane West is repped by Paradigm and Management 360. Sprague Grayden is repped by Untitled Entertainment and AKA Talent Agency. After those amazing on set pictures from earlier, Fox have officially released their first look portrait of Shane as Bane – check out Entertainment Weekly’s exclusive photo in our gallery!

Ready to see the official first look at Bane on Fox’s Gotham? This is much more evolved from the earlier leaked images you might have seen floating around online.  Bane is coming to the drama series in the show’s fifth and final season, and below is actor Shane West (Nikita, Salem) in costume admit some fiery destruction.

Bane will be introduced as Eduardo Dorrance, a former Army friend of Jim Gordon’s (Ben McKenzie), who is gradually transformed into the supervillain.

With the actor’s red-rimmed-eyes and semi-transparent mask and all those cyberpunk mechanics going on there in that breastplate, the look stands as a clear contrast from the best-known version of the character, Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises take as played by Tom Hardy.

Still, you might say this guy still looks like he was born in darkness?

Gotham‘s Bane was described by showrunner John Stephens as “very, very strong, and very angry … we made him integral to the fact of coming in as a special ops government agent.” Season 5 will continue the “No Man’s Land” storyline from the comics, where Gotham City is isolated by the U.S. government from the rest of the country..

“We pick up at the top of season five, at the conclusion of No Man’s Land, Day 365,” Stephens said. “Then, we cycle backwards to day 87, three months into No Man’s Land where Jim has created his green zone and wants his reunification. We’re catching up, and for the first nine episodes, we’re always catching up to that first scene we see.” – EW.com

We finally have our first look at Shane in costume as Bane and he looks amazing! A mix between the DC comics and the 2012 Tom Hardy styled Bane, one thing is clear and that is that Shane looks every bit the terrifying villain who is about to bring Gotham to it’s knees.  Check out the article from Metro.co.uk below which has some details about what was happening on set as well as 22 HQ pictures in our gallery thanks to my amazing friend Jasper so make sure to check out his site for fellow DC actor Brenton Thwaites.

He’s easily the most terrifying villain in the DC Universe and now masked giant Bane is heading to Gotham. The fifth and final season for FOX’s DC comic series is now well underway, with Shane West being pictured in Bane’s tanked up armour signature mask on the set of Gotham – and he looks absolutely terrifying. In one shot, Bane can be seen crushing a soldier’s skull with his bare hands during a gruesome showdown, surrounded by trucks and police cars, but he couldn’t give a damn. Thankfully, in another shot, actor Shane looks pretty chill as he jokes around with Batman star Ben Mackenzie. Still, wouldn’t trust him in that outfit though. Shane’s character arrives to Gotham as Eduardo Dorrance, but later becomes Bane.

‘He’s integral to the resolution of No Man’s Land,’ showrunner John Stephens told Den of Geek. ‘While keeping elements from the books like Peña Duro and Venom … we made him integral to the fact of coming in as a special ops government agent.’ Last week Shane managed to spark all sorts of excitement when he shared a picture of his breakfast on Twitter. Though, it wasn’t his early morning meal which had fans up in arms, but what appeared to be Bane’s glove was conveniently placed alongside his ‘brekkie’, in the first look at his famous get-up. Naturally, details of Gotham’s final outing are being kept well under wraps but during the recent panel at New York Comic Con, John confirmed the 10th and concluding episode of the comic book series would see a huge time jump set 10 years later.

Shane West just can’t help himself; just days after being (possibly) spotted in wardrobe as Bane for a cast photo, the Gotham actor has shared a teasery shot of the notorious Bat-villain’s glove.

With the fallout from “No Man’s Land” and more planned for the final season of Gotham, there is a lot for fans to look forward to, but little has been more tantalizing to long-time comic book hardcores than the idea of Gotham‘s take on Bane.

Those gloves might actually be the most accurate-to-the-comics version of Bane’s gloves yet to come to live action. While the character has appeared in Batman & Robin and The Dark Knight Rises, both of those had stylized versions of the costume that were designed to work within the movie’s world.

West’s post, though, shows a pair of gloves nearly identical to the ones Bane was wearing in Batman #497, the infamous “Breaking of the Bat” issue in which he joined the pantheon of some of Batman’s greatest villains.

Earlier this month at New York Comic Con, it was confirmed that West would in fact be playing Gotham‘s version of Bane.

West is going to be playing a character named Eduardo Dorrance, who is a former Army friend of Jim Gordon’s. He returns to the city after No Man’s Land and seems helpful at first, but Dorrance doesn’t turn out to be the man anyone expects. In the comics, Edmund Dorrance is the name of Bane’s father, King Snake, and it sounds as though Gotham will be using that name to introduce the popular Batman villain.

During a recent visit to the set of Gotham, ComicBook.com spent some time talking with executive producer John Stephens, who told us a bit about introducing Bane and the other villains of Season 5.

“I don’t think we were ever really aesthetic about putting in new characters,” Stephens said. “If we kind of wanted to do one, we would throw it in anyway, a canon character. Certainly the character that Shane [West] is coming into to play is the character that we had been waiting to use, because we know we wanted one more big, canon character who was going to come in and make a splash, and he does, entirely. But there’s other characters, too, you mentioned Man Bat of it all, or you just sit and have random episodes and say, ‘Hey, we’re going to put Magpie in this episode.’ So Magpie comes in and she does a great job. So there’s more of that sort of throughout.”

During the Gotham panel at New York Comic Con, it was revealed that the show would be putting a spin on the traditional Bane/Batman story. Rather than breaking Bruce Wayne’s back in a fight, Eduardo will actually break the back of Alfred. – ComicBook.com
